In the period from 2010 to 2020, Italian trio Faz Waltz released seven great albums full of footstomping glam rock, a genre they mastered to perfection, in which they couldn’t reach any higher. Singer-songwriter Faz La Rocca, Diego Angelini, and Marco Galimberti have changed course a bit: on their new full-length On The Ball you’ll hear good old rock ‘n’ roll – a little less Slade and T. Rex, a little more Stray Cats and J. Roddy Walston & The Business, so to speak. It’s a swinging party record that makes you dance and smile for 10 songs, to only let you catch your breath at final track 11 – a surprising ballad. The tunes are still solid and catchy, the vocals gritty and awesome, the guitar riffs powerful and functional, the honky-tonk piano a valuable and cool addition. We liked the old Faz Waltz a lot, but enjoy the “new” Faz Waltz at least as much.
