Three years is long enough to start wondering when The Paranoyds would return. Thankfully, since their 2022 Talk Talk Talk LP and their 2023 I Like it Here EP , they haven’t lost their knack  for making garage rock sound effortlessly cool. Produced in part by Jamie Hince of The Kills, Late Nighter gives the Los Angeles quartet’s fuzzed-out grooves and scrappy punk energy a little extra bite without sanding off the rough edges. Four songs is hardly enough after such a long wait, but Tracy Don’t, Girls Like Me, Paint Thinner, and DNA all make a convincing case that The Paranoyds haven’t missed a step.
