New album: Bog Imp || Anti-Natural

Blown-out fun from Vernon Township

Alongside that fine jangle pop record from Life of Riley, New Jersey label Keeper Records dropped another release this week and it is one that hits from the exact opposite angle. Bog Imp, out of Vernon Township, deal in short, loud bursts rather than anything gentle or sweet. Most songs barely scrape past the one-minute mark before they’re gone.

If there’s a shared trait between the two bands, it’s a knack for melody and hooks. Bog Imp bury theirs under lo-fi grit, buzzsaw guitars, and levels pushed deep into the red, but they still cut through without much effort.

This is buzzsaw garage pop done right. Fast, blown-out, and extremely catchy.
