Sometimes patience pays off. Last year’s debut single by Sydney’s Game Set Match felt like an arrow straight through the heart—an essential punk rock ’n’ roll release with one glaring flaw: it was digital only. Enter Goodbye Boozy, doing the lord’s work by finally pressing those killers Hang Out With You and Mundane onto a proper 7″. And they didn’t stop there.

The flip side is fully put to use with two brand-new rippers. Want To Lose rides a Louie Louie-style riff that’s instantly familiar and impossible to resist, topped with a yeah–oh–oh chorus that does exactly what it’s supposed to do. Know Her (Just The Same) leans into a distinctly Australian proto-punk vibe—warm, hungry, and scrappy in that way that makes you reach for the volume knob and start thinking about what else this project might have up its sleeve.

Game Set Match is the solo project of Will Cooke, drummer for Cammy Cautious and the Wrestlers, and I sure hope more is coming.
