Vinny Earley has been at it again. After dropping three LPs in 2024, he’s already back with Another Man’s Treasure — his first of 2025, and honestly, it might be my all-time favorite from Vaguess.
Vaguess has always been idiosyncratic, stylistically restless and emotionally wide-ranging, but this record plays almost like a greatest-hits set. It’s packed with songs that feel instantly essential: the playlist staples, the gateway tracks, the ones you’ll keep coming back to.
The album opens in deliciously Pavement-esque fashion with Take It Or Leave It, before sliding into a slack indie rock hit-fest with smartly titled cuts like Another Crumb, Another Planet, and Wide Eyes Shut. Tracks like Look Away, Suits Go Marchin’ On, and You Got It carry the immediacy of pure pop, while Friction and Drown Out ensure the final third hits just as hard as the first two.
This is Vaguess at his most accessible, most consistent, and most fun yet. Highly recommended.
