How do you write about a band’s first new LP in nearly four decades (39 years to be precise)? Honestly, I’ll just point you to Josh Rutledge’s review over at the always-essential Faster and Louder blog. Josh is a longtime Dogmatics fan and the authority when it comes to writing about a band I was only vaguely aware of until a few years ago.
So go read that—this is just my quick two cents.
Nowheresville is the record that officially made me a Dogmatics fan. To be fully honest, they had me hooked from opener The Key of B (those Stones-y harmonies!) and never let go. This is American rock ’n roll in optima forma, nodding to ’60s garage, ’70s classic rock, ’80s punk and college rock, and early ’00s alt-country. Somehow, it all fits, and it all hits.
Color me impressed. Nowheresville is out now on CD at Rum Bar Records.
