Los Refrescos from Santiago (Chile) instantly made my bands-to-watch list when their self-titled debut EP dropped in 2022. Now that they’ve (finally!) followed it up with the six-track Conozca a Los Refrescos, it’s official: they’re on my new-favorite-band list.

Pressing play on this EP feels like a fist pump after a goal, or a subtle nod of approval from someone whose opinion really matters. It offers that instant warm glow and just feels right. Los Refrescos channel the spirit of late ’70s pop punk and power pop so convincingly, you’d swear they time-traveled here. And yet, they bring something fresh—making you fall back in love with a sound you might not have even been around for the first time. (Neither were they, nor I)

Each song reconnects you with what made that era such a revelation in the first place: energy, melody, and irresistible hooks. This is exactly the kind of stuff I live for—and shoutout to Matías Enemigo for the rad artwork that perfectly matches the vibe Los Refrescos are going for.

I can only assume labels are lining up to get this out on vinyl and lock the band down for more. They’d be fools not to.
