Prism Shores follow up their 2022 debut with Out From Underneath, a 10-song record that sees the band taking a big leap forward. Despite hailing from Canada, their sound pulls from all corners, blending UK indie and Britpop with Aussie/NZ jangle and Bay Area fog pop. The band layers their songs with care, enlisting help from guest contributors like KT Laine (vocals), Owen Fairbairn (violin), and members of Woods to build a rich and textured sound.
It’s an ambitious and rewarding effort. Tracks like Tourniquet, Overplayed My hand, and Holding Pattern feel like classics-in-the-making, showcasing the band’s knack for melody and atmosphere. Out From Underneath definitely puts Prism Shores on my want- and watchlist. LP out now via Meritorio Records.
