New album: Speed Circuit || Survey The Damage

A sneaky good, huge sounding record by John Nelson, Ryan Allen and Brent Mosser

Speed Circuit is a new band from Farmington Hills, Michigan, that started as one of those pandemic solo projects. John Nelson (New Grenada, Copper Thieves) initially went at it alone, but soon enough, Ryan Allen (Extra Arms, Thunderbirds Are Now!) offered to jump in on drums, and Brent Mosser (Mountain Club, The Word Play) joined on bass. Together, they’ve released Survey The Damage, which is out now on LP at Setterwind Records.

Survey The Damage brings eight tracks that at first come across as straightforward windows down indie rock tunes but quickly reveal layers of sneaky goodness. The band’s mid-paced rhythms and tight, powerhouse sound often recall a mix of arena rock and Dinosaur Jr.-esque grit. It’s like a fresh take on a classic rock band—bold, catchy, and surprisingly huge-sounding.
