Suburban Eyes is a fresh project featuring three key players from the ’90s and ’00s indie scene: Eric Richter (Christie Front Drive, Antarctica, The 101), Jeremy Gomez (Mineral, The Gloria Record), and John Anderson (Boys Life, White Whale, Koufax).
Their self-titled debut, out this week on Spartan Records, reflects the DNA of their past bands while offering a sound that mostly feels new. Eric Richter’s distinct voice provides a sense of familiarity, blending seamlessly with the intricate and dynamic soundscapes the trio has crafted. This is an emo-leaning indie rock record that demands attention and promises to grow with every listen. I can’t help but feel that if REM would release a record like this in 2024, they would undoubtedly earn rave reviews.
Suburban Eyes is out now on three vinyl variants (Tiger’s Eye Marble, Bone / Black Swirl, Red with Black Smoke) that all look pretty spectacular.
