New album: I Wanna Be A Truck Driver || I Wanna Be A Truck Driver

Glasgow based collective's 2023 album and 2024 single combined is a must FFO underground pop

The phrase “I Wanna Be A Truck Driver” first came to me through a friend who actually pursued that career for a while. Later, Finlay of Terminal Buildings mentioned it as a Glasgow band to watch. Now, having heard their new album, I can confirm his recommendation was spot-on.

This release perfectly embodies the press release’s genre descriptors (Twee, Jangle, C86) and band comparisons (BMX Bandits, The Pastels, The Vaselines). Technically a compilation, it combines the band’s self-titled 2023 album with their recent two-song single Truck of Trouble/Teenage Wulver – aptly described by the essential and always reliable Janglepophub as “a double A-side.”

(Re)discovering I Wanna Be A Truck Driver’s lo-fi, crunchy, and gentle tunes is an absolute treat, and Subjangle’s decision to release this on CD is commendable – shipping early October, it’s available to stream now. Be sure to pre-order this gem of Glasgow indie pop!
