When I first wrote about Geishas Of Doom, I had no idea what the future held for this Dutch band. After seeing them live, “band” feels like an understatement — they’re more of a wolf pack, a tight-knit unit of individuals ready for attack. Their stage presence is electric, complete with two drummers adding to the chaos and passion that make the live version of G.O.D. unforgettable. That same raw energy and emotion translates seamlessly onto their first vinyl release, The First Four Tapes LP, which compiles their first four Tape releases (duh!).
The members of G.O.D. are no strangers to the Dutch underground scene, having played in bands like Birth of Joy, Automatic Sam, Giant Tiger Hooch, Tricklebolt, ATLANTA, and Love Supreme. Despite their extensive experience, they’ve managed to avoid cynicism and complacency. Instead, they channel their anger and frustration into psychedelic hardcore that hits with purpose and rocks hard.
The First Four Tapes captures the essence of Geishas Of Doom, blending their live energy with studio precision. It’s a testament to a band that’s not just surviving but thriving, fighting off complacency with every furious note. Buy the LP (out now on Sounds Haarlem Likes Vinyl), go see the band perform, they are something else!
