Still catching up on records that were released during my holiday, there is one I feel I just have to share. You’ve probably already heard it, but if not, let me introduce you to The Make Three, a band comprised of Jerry Lardieri (Vocals & Guitar), Peter Horvath (Bass & Vocals), and Chris Ryan (Drums) – Three musicians familiar with creating quality guitar pop as the former played in The Brixton Riot and the latter two in The Anderson Council.
With You, Me & The Make Three, Lardieri, Horvath and Ryan make an impressive debut that you could file either under ’90s altpop or modern powerpop – if you consider the post eighties kind as modern that is. The prize track may be Emily Strange, a song that would not look out of place on It’s A Shame About Ray. A couple exceptions aside, The Make Three do a polished and crisp sounding version of rockin’ out throughout the record and on the punchier tracks they shine brightest. You, Me & The Make Three is an accessible record with addictive qualities.
