New EP: Hearts Apart || Bang! Wrong Again

Italian poppy punkrock outfit Hearts Apart have a way of signing off their social media posts with the broken heart smiley (πŸ’”). Their songs make me want to reply with the cupid’s arrow-through-the-heart smiley (πŸ’˜).

My infatuation with the band was ignited by their debut EP, and that connection is solidified with the follow up EP Bang! Wrong Again. Hearts Apart see Jeff Burke as their role model, and it shows, but subtly and pleasantly. Rather than straightforward copying the sound of Burke in bands like Radioactivity, Lost Balloons, Marked Men, Hearts Apart draw influence from Burke’s strong sense of melody. The six songs on Bang! Wrong Again are neither frantic nor filled with nervous energy, they are honest melodic and accessible punkrock tunes with repeated playability.

Speaking of hearts. The Bang! Wrong Again EP is out now on LP, with the flipside containing their debut EP. I πŸ’“ it and can’t wait to add it to the collection.
