Remember The Mullens? The legendary Texas proto punk/garage rock band released four albums on Get Hip Recordings between 1997 and 2011, as well as several singles on Panic, 1+2, Direct Hit and Safety Pin Records. To make sure you don’t forget how much fun their music is, The Mullens have returned out of a ten plus year recording hiatus – the band never stopped touring, with a new ten-song album called Get What You Deserve.
It’s a treat to hear these veterans do their thing. The Mullens sound inspired on Get What You Deserve, a record that sounds exactly how you expect it to sound if you draw a line from their 1997 self-titled debut through their subsequent releases to the year 2023. The change in sound is subtle yet noticeable. The proto punk sound of their beloved 1997 debut have all but dissappeared and made way for a classic garage rock’n’roll sound that they absolutely nail. Listening to this record, you can only come to one conclusion: The Mullens still got it. Get What You Deserve is out March 25th on Get Hip Recordings (of course).
