Beach Bugs (France) originally intended to be a punk band, but a surfy garage pop sound turned out to be a more natural fit for the band. This tidbit of information from the press release makes a lot of sense once you start listening to Beach Bugs’ self-titled debut LP which was released this week through I Love Limoges and Only Lovers Records.
The eleven songs on the record are bouncy, ramshackle and sunny and offer maximum pop sensibility. Beach Bugs sound like pop punk kids who somewhere down the road discovered Black Lips, Harlem, Jacuzzi Boys and Jaill. Really, this is catchy stuff and the record is a blast.
