The Zigzag Hearts is the brainchild of Greg Schneider, who is somewhat of a veteran of the Oakland punk scene. He used to play in The Influents with his brother Bill, and that band released a pair of records on Billie Joe Armstrong’s label Adeline Records in the early ’00s. He’s also in a new project with Armstrong and Jason White (also of the Influents and long time touring member of Green Day) called The Upside Downers who have a release in the pipeline. Musically, The Zigzag Hearts is quite similar to some of the side projects of Armstrong, particularly The Longshot. The recent Brad Marino is also a good reference point. The Zigzag Hearts play a catchy and authenthic blend of rock-‘n’-roll and powerpop that is easy to fall for. My favorite song is It Ain’t Easy, which has a Paul Westerberg feel to it.
