“I could feel a strange sensation // as soon as this trip had begun.” From their metaphorical garage in Boston, beloved rock ‘n’ roll veterans Muck and the Mires take us upstairs for an exhilarating tribute to psych-rock genius Roky Erickson (13th Floor Elevators), a blast of fun that is way more catchy than haunting (“Whoo-hoo”). It kicks off their latest EP in electrifying fashion, with the momentum blazing on through the original scorchers Hey Sunshine and Dead to Me (neither about the hero from track 1), and a fantastic cover of Gerry and The Pacemakers’ 1964 single It’s Gonna Be Alright.

True to form, the four musicians fuse British Invasion melody with American punk-style punch, with big riffs and big vocals, backed by pounding rhythms and a larger-than-life sound. Once more, these are lean, hook-laden hits that are over almost as soon as they win you over.
