Anthony Kapfer’s Xray Xeroxx project is reaching near-manic proportions, unleashing yet another blast of basement-born garage punk into the world. Fortunately, given the current state of things, he doesn’t have to step outside to find material. On Social Media Made Me Hate My Friends, Kapfer fires off four short, sharp songs that take aim at digital decay and personal dysfunction: a deadpan ode to self-sabotage and inertia (“i’m gonna start the day right // no i’m not”), the collapse of online connection (“the algorithm amputated my brain // it’s like a party where everybody’s on cocaine // they say stupid shit non stop”), isolation disguised as liberation (“i don’t need any friends today // cause i got jim beam and jack is on his way”), and a nihilistic shrug at modern life (“I look around for something good // And all I found was more bad news”).

For all its doomscroll despair, the EP fizzes with scrappy lo-fi charm — proof that even when the world’s falling apart, it’s still worth turning your frustrations into noisy, hooky garage-punk nuggets.
