Last year’s Action Now! A Paperface Zine Benefit for the Palestine Children’s Relief Fund was one of the finest compilations around. Its follow-up isn’t technically Action Now! Volume 2, but it sure feels like a spiritual sequel: snap! crackle! pop! where the action is vol. 1. The approach is similar (this time proceeds go to the Transgender Law Center) and so is the caliber of bands involved.

Thirty tracks, spanning lo-fi, power pop, jangle, and mod, delivered by a roster that reads like an underground pop hall of fame. There are demos, covers, and unreleased gems all over the place, including a killer opener from the marvelous Uni Boys. Add in contributions from Brower, The Last, 20/20, Soup Activists, Tom Henry, The Smashing Times, The Cowboys, Rik & The Pigs, Semi Trucks, New Math, and Now, and you’ve got an instant classic. Essential, plain and simple.
