Although I’ve been following Australian garage psych trio Crocodylus for a while (their 2018 single My Baby has been a playlist favorite here since it came out) and even saw them live (during their 2019 European tour, unaware of the impending covid pandemic), I somehow missed that they released their debut full-length Muscle Memory last November. For those who are not yet aware, I would like to bring this underexposed LP to your attention – better late than never. Josh Williams, Stephen Sacco and Mikel Salvador have recorded 14 songs – 41 minutes – that are somewhere between those of King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard, The Murlocs and The Chats in terms of eclecticism, spunk and fury. Sometimes catchy (You Gotta See It To Believe It, Can’t Understand), sometimes untamed (Home Invasion, Person Suit), sometimes subdued (House On The Hill, Muscle Memory), but always exciting and captivating.
