Not sure whether Jean Mignon’s motto is “life is short” or “life is shit,” because both could explain why his music is so fast, dirty, and mean. Won’t Put Him Down alone is worth the price of this release. He absolutely wastes zero seconds on this tune, and from the killer opening riff it’s 90 seconds of fast, loud, and catchy punk awesomeness. Fortunately, opener Tarmac Gold already puts you on a bullet train so you can slide in easily. The third song is the Stooges-like Lookin’ For Stairs, an outlier track in the sense that it puts on the brakes, but the swagger in the song adds to the excitement. Closer I Did It & I’ll Do It Again is plain awesomeness—what a scorcher of a garage punk hit.
