I’m not sure if the legendary Bäddat För Trubbel is still active in 2025, but frontman Andreas Hjelmér (“Hjelle”) hasn’t slowed down a bit. Since 2017, he’s been steadily releasing stellar solo work, and in recent years, he’s teamed up with fellow Swedes Ormarna to elevate his sound even further. Their latest effort, Jag Kommer Efter På Jobbet (I’ll Be Late At Work), technically dropped in the final days of 2024 (according to Discogs) but only recently appeared on streaming platforms (yet not on Bandcamp).

The album features 14 tracks, most of which clock in under 90 seconds, yet Hjelle’s commanding voice and storytelling leave a lasting impression. This is pub-rock ’n’ roll at its finest—a vehicle perfectly suited for Hjelle’s tales, which somehow resonate even if, like me, you don’t understand Swedish.

Jag Kommer Efter På Jobbet is a masterclass in variety. Hjelle effortlessly transitions between blue-collar rock ’n’ roll (En Man Med En Headset), old-time country (Krama Dom Du Älskar), heartfelt ballads (Nej, Nej, Nej), and punchy punk rock (Lappa Och Lagga, Tänker Du På Döden Igen). From barroom swagger to tender nostalgia, the record runs the emotional gamut, making for a deeply rewarding listen.
