Fronted by ex-preschool teacher turned songwriter Josie Callahan, Athens (Georgia) quartet Honeypuppy bursts onto the scene with their 5-song debut EP (plus two bonus tracks) called Nymphet. It’s a blast diving into the playful indie pop universe created on the EP.
The band’s sonic direction is is probably best exemplified by their song Thrum a Thread. The song kicks off with a wild burst of noise and chaos, only to transform into a soothing nursery rhyme-like melody to serenade your little ones with at bedtime. Just when you think they’ve drifted into relaxation, BAM! Honeypuppy cranks up the volume, rocking out with unexpected intensity.
It’s not the only time that Honeypuppy seduces you with their sweet side while working towards something darker, louder and cathartic. The Nymphet EP keep you guessing as well as entertained. It is out today on Tape at Indecent Artistry.
