I had to look it up, but<a href=\"https:\/\/addtowantlist.com\/index.php\/2023\/05\/12\/new-album-sumos-surfacing\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"> their acclaimed debut album<\/a> <em>Surfacing<\/em>\u00a0already came out back in 2023.<\/p>\n<p>Its follow-up is the\u00a0<em>Luck<\/em>\u00a0EP, in case the giant typography on the cover somehow didn\u2019t give it away. From opener\u00a0<em>Icebreaker<\/em>, it\u2019s immediately clear what made this band stick in the first place: they know how to write songs. Proper ones. There are six of them here, all wired into that distinctly British strain of indie rock where the vocal melodies feel faintly shaped by generations of folk music, even when the band is making a racket.<\/p>\n<p>Because Sumos are not a folk band.
