The guitar lines rip like barbed wire while singer Phil Davis howls stories of obsession, addiction, and bad romance\u2014songs like <em data-start=\"524\" data-end=\"538\">Poison Apple<\/em> and <em data-start=\"543\" data-end=\"559\">Toe Tag Lovers<\/em> land somewhere between true crime and personal confessional. Elsewhere, <em data-start=\"632\" data-end=\"643\">Idiot Box<\/em> rails against screen addiction, <em data-start=\"676\" data-end=\"689\">Eaten Alive<\/em> conjures grindhouse horror, and <em data-start=\"722\" data-end=\"737\">Drop of Blood<\/em> proves the band can make morbidity sound anthemic.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"792\" data-end=\"1026\">Where 2023\u2019s <em data-start=\"805\" data-end=\"828\">Generation Irrelevant<\/em> felt like a resurrection (Davis literally <a href=\"https:\/\/addtowantlist.com\/index.php\/2023\/07\/27\/new-album-the-oxys-generation-irrelevant\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">came back from the death<\/a> right for recording the record), <em data-start=\"855\" data-end=\"884\">Casting Pearls Before Swine<\/em> sounds like a band thriving at full force.
