The first (and last) time we wrote about Aberdeen\u2019s The Terminal Buildings was back in 2023<\/a>. This August, the solo project returns with two new albums, both shaped by the upheaval of moving from Glasgow back to Aberdeen.<\/p>\n

Today brings the first of the pair:\u00a0A Binful of Bells<\/em><\/a>. Here, Finlay (the artist behind The Terminal Buildings) leans into the softer side of \u201860s psych\u2014think The Byrds or The Zombies\u2014yielding lo-fi pop gems that feel out of time and place. It\u2019s a record that flows beautifully front to back, even with its unconventional shape.<\/p>\n

Of the 19 songs here, about eight are instrumentals that slip in like pauses or warped muzak, giving the album an experimental tilt. That\u2019s balanced by timeless melodies and gently off-kilter pop that keep you hooked in The Terminal Buildings\u2019 odd little universe. It\u2019s a space not too far from where Pete Gill (WPTR, 2nd Grade) and Matt Addison (Mythical Motors) also roam\u2014artists mining everyday magic through scrappy, sparkling songcraft.<\/p>\n
