Underneath<\/em><\/a> is the third full-length album from Naarm\/Melbourne art rock band Floodlights<\/a>, with a sound even bigger than From a View<\/em><\/a> (2020) and Painting of My Time<\/a><\/em> (2023). The charismatic lead vocals and knack for compelling melodies remain, but the path taken towards a richer and fuller orchestration continues\u2014thanks to synths and trumpet\u2014and there are plenty of infectious whoo-hoo choruses, anticipating the stadium sing-alongs that will eventually come.<\/p>\n

Louis Parsons (vocals, guitar), Ashlee Kehoe (vocals, guitar), Joe Draffen (bass), Sarah Hellyr (keys, trumpet, synth) and Archie Shannon (drums) wrote the eleven new songs while touring the world, a surreal period of grief and growth, full of experiences and emotions. It led to an intimate and vulnerable meditation on humanity and place, captured in passionate and powerful alt-rock soundscapes, with a more theatrical feel. Floodlights occupies a unique position in the contemporary music universe.<\/p>\n
