American singer-songwriter\/multi-instrumentalist Alexei Shishkin<\/a> already released two worthy long-players this year, Open Door Policy<\/em><\/a> and Dagger<\/em><\/a>, and as if it were nothing he wrote another six songs last summer, collected on the Greenwich Mean<\/em><\/a> EP. The magnetic title track – atmospheric, but with a nervous rhythm – is the only one with vocals, but it is an inviting prelude to the instrumentals that follow. They are lo-fi indie pop tunes in a jazz guise, a soundtrack you expect when you are in a foreign country – lost in translation – sipping your drink in a nearly deserted bar in the middle of the night.<\/p>\n
