It was a bumpy ride – I’m pretty sure unrelated to the album title – but we can finally enjoy Haunted By The Holy Ghost<\/em><\/a>, the new full-length from Fort Worth, Texas-based singer\/songwriter\/guitarist Ryan Hamilton<\/a>. The musician grew up in a conservative Church of Christ, which led to a kind of insurmountable fear of God, hence the album theme. From the title track: “You try to run \/\/ You want to hide \/\/ But that pain remains \/\/ And it stays way down deep inside.”<\/p>\n

It’s quite a personal record and dark subjects are not shunned in the lyrics, but it never gets heavy handed, thanks to the cheerful vocals and uplifting sound. The influences<\/a> from power pop and heartland rock are present again, but are processed in a distinctive and unique way. You’ll hear ten passionate songs (including a strong cover of Splender’s Yeah, Whatever<\/em>), which are delivered confidently, more straightforward and explicit than before. This had to be a kick ass record with good songs, fun from start to finish – mission accomplished.<\/p>\n
