The five songs on the EP in a way remind me of Sheer Mag, both in terms of their guitar driven sound as in the immediate excitement they generate. But whereas Sheer Mag infuse their Thin Lizzyesque swagger and instrumentation with influences from hard rock, metal, soul and even disco, Sustains has classic power pop as its polar North. Think Shoes and Todd Rundgren like melodies over rockin&#8217; guitar riffs, make those guitars sound fuzzy and the production lo-fi and you get the idea.<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;m not even going to highlight any of the 5 songs.
