New album: Tall Days || Breakers

No frills, big sound

Seven years after their No Disguise LP, New Jersey rock ‘n’ roll duo Tall Days returns with a full-length album entitled Breakers. Its ten lo-fi songs were built around a simple mandate: “Make noise and bring the hooks. Amps were cranked, drums were hit hard, and the performances were kept deliberately raw.” The stripped-down formula that Graham Hartke and Joe DeAngelus say they use sounds in practice like a dynamic mix of neo-psychedelic indie rock and bluesy garage punk, richer in terms of instrumentation than you would expect. The vocals are big and the sound is loud, bouncing between confrontation and optimism. Indeed, noise and hooks, what’s not to like?

Breakers—self-produced—is out digitally and on vinyl LP through Snack Rock Music. Featuring Graham Hartke (vocals, guitar, bass, saxophones, recorder, keyboards, vibra-slap) and Joe DeAngelus (drums, percussion).
