New album: Jagger Holly || Wet Hot European Summer

Making summer happen one hit after another

It’s raining outside, but I am having a late-summer party in my home office, blasting the new Jagger Holly LP out of the speakers.

I was pretty blown away by Rivoltella (2023), Jagger Holly’s most ambitious effort to date, a double LP with almost thirty songs and album art that ripped off The Beatles’ Revolver. The new (fifth) LP, Wet Hot European Summer, is a lot more concise at thirteen songs, and rips off Wet Hot American Summer for its art direction. Less Jagger Holly does not equate to less fun, though, because this is one of those records where the songs battle it out for the title of catchiest thing you’ve heard in recent days. That’s exactly what we’re looking for in pop punk, especially when the songwriting is this damn good. The latest Windowsill LP comes to mind, as does a mashup of Parasites and The Yum Yums, if that makes sense.

By the end of the year, when we’re rounding up the best pop punk records to come out of 2026, I expect to see Wet Hot European Summer at or near the top of many lists.

Here is the challenge: listen to the first three songs on this party summer platter and try not to hit the order button at Monster Zero, Hey Pizza and Outloud! Records. I failed.
