Ready for some rock-‘n’-roll romanticism? Well, Adam Turkel’s New Brutarians has got that in spades on their new self-titled 10″ on Sioux Records. What started out as a lo-fi, glammy punk rock kind of rock-‘n’-roll, as heard on their pretty great Hysterese LP from 2022 and its follow-up Don’t Want To Know Your Secrets (2023), sounds in 2026 like it has grown into a fuller band effort.

Beats and strings are included, of course, but saxophone? Piano? Opener Delinquent Things has got both, and it is glorious. Played by a full band and even featuring backing vocals from Kevin Steele (Roxx Gang), it is a standout start to the record and sounds like the most accomplished, fully realized Brutarians track yet. It’s glammy, it’s got those classic guitar riffs and licks, and those high-pitched ooh-oohs, train-whistle style, work magic behind the singalong chorus hook. It’s damn effective in its delivery, and far from the only hit here. The boy-girl chorus in Tiger Tales is bliss, the power-poppin’ Born Out of Time is contagious, and Tonight’s Your Night (Tonight) is a straightforward rocker that pulls no punches.

Whether you’re already a fan or this is your first touch of The New Brutarians, Turkel and co. give you plenty of reason to get excited here. The band may have grown, but thankfully, the rock-‘n’-roll romanticism is still very much intact.
