Past results are not necessarily a predictor of future success, but in music, they are often enough to pique my interest. Take RUCKUS, a band featuring members of The Stance, The Prize, Loose Lips, Chubby & the Gang, Latterman, New York Hounds, and Ingrates. Those names alone are enough to make me jittery with anticipation. And their 2023 teaser was already pretty great, with its “It’s getting hot in the city!” hook becoming more relevant with every summer.

The RUCKUS EP, out now on 12″ via Under The Gun and Drunken Sailor Records, includes those two 2023 songs alongside four new tracks. Honestly, RUCKUS plays some of the finest rock ‘n’ roll-infused punk around, sounding like a classic rock or glam band that discovered punk while in a particularly rowdy mood in the practice room, then turned the amps up, the distortion up, and the tempo up.

The result is a kickass little record packed with catchy, dirty punk songs. Consider me sufficiently jittery.
