Ready Ave is an indie pop trio from Baltimore, Maryland, featuring Blake Douglas (vocals, all instruments except drums), Hannah Bonczek (vocals), and Paul Krolian (drums). Their debut album, Across the Ceiling, turns the small movements of everyday life into ten lo-fi songs with jangly guitars and delicate vocals. Nothing about it screams for attention at first, yet the intimate vocal interplay and loose, homespun groove make it surprisingly hard to overlook. Take My Favorite Saturday, where melodic guitar picking and gently propulsive percussion create a lush backdrop for Hannah’s angelic voice. This tape is a lovely little gem for jangle pop devotees.
