New album: Long Dark Moon || Cold Atlantic

A guitar-driven pull of memory and motion

The four friends of Seattle alt-rock outfit Long Dark Moon return with Cold Atlantic—eight original songs that are meant to be played, revisited, and reshaped live. Aaron Starkey (vocals, guitar, mandolin), Tony Fulgham (guitar, vocals), Christopher Meyer (bass, vocals), and Jeff Baars (drums, percussion) travel through their memories, and capture this in an urgent sound.

The dueling guitars, driving rhythm section, heartfelt vocals, and personal lyrics (“I wasn’t listening when I could’ve been… all this time // I wasn’t hoping and i should’ve been”—from lead single Systems) are equally important and reinforce each other in an impressive way. This record gets better with every listen, with melodies and harmonies that slowly but surely burrow into the back of your head, making you nod in approval.

Cold Atlantic, recorded by Johnny Nails, is out now digitally and on cassette through Den Tapes.
