As a logical next trip after 2023’s Stray With Me LP, Berlin DIY duo Grateful Cat—Gwendolin Tägert and Frank Memmler aka Franky Fuzz—return with Ready To Go Anywhere, a sophomore album that turns modern chaos into something charming, melodic, and strangely comforting. Written and recorded in their creaky Kreuzberg kitchen, the twelve tracks here shimmer with sunny harmonies and sly existential humor.

The two musicians balance lightness and weight, melancholy and mirth, finding grace in the mundane and beauty in the bizarre—even as the world unravels, there’s always a song worth singing, a toast worth raising, and a cat worth not waking. Even as the world feels like it’s ending, human longing for connection and kindness is what we hear: “It’s over, bye-bye, it’s over // Let’s all drink to what is left to come” (from Summer’s Gone, It’s Over).

Musically, it’s a warm collage of jangly folk and vintage twee pop, with touches of bossa nova and power pop, each tune guided by the pair’s organic arrangements and gorgeous vocal blend. A timeless sound, with some inevitable that-reminds-me-of moments (which only adds to the immediate appeal), and more hits than I can embed below.
