The jangle pop veterans of Pop Filter return with Trade Place Tape, another album full of acoustic warmth and charming vocals. The twelve new tracks were recorded—between the woodworking machinery of Lachlan Denton’s cavernous workshop—sporadically over a twelve-month period, as the band could find time between work and family commitments. Yet these 37 minutes come across as a coherent whole—intimate and subdued, inspired and straightforward. It’s raw and real, the kind of record that feels handmade because it is, with folky instrumentation and sunny harmonies. My kinda party.
