We May Bite, warns Valparaiso, Indiana-based punk rock four-piece The Figbeats on the cover photo of their latest EP, but that’s not bad at all. Its five songs form a sharp, punchy snapshot of frustration, resilience, and self-realization. Across its brisk runtime, Brad Skafish (rhythm guitar, vocals), Felix Baeza (lead guitar, vocals), Jim Senderhauf (bass, backing vocals), and Dan Shiplov (drums) balance raw garage rock energy with power pop hooks. Underneath the snarling guitars and danceable rhythms lies a streak of self-awareness; the band isn’t just raging against the world, but reckoning with it.
