Album Review: Dreamcoaster || Imaginary Reflections

Brighton duo balance fragility and lushness on new LP

I fell for Dreamcoaster (the Brighton-based project of Jane and Andrew Craig) when I heard their self-titled 7″ on Spinout Nuggets back in 2022. A year later, I was absolutely smitten by the title track of their Say Nothing EP. Now they return with Imaginary Reflections, an 8-track LP out today. I’m not going to get caught up in whether this counts as a full album or a mini-album—I just want to highlight how downright enjoyable songs like Catch Me When I Fall and Faster Than You are.

Jane Craig’s voice is angelic, dreamy, and tinged with melancholy, perfectly suited to the record’s recurring themes of life, love, regret, and escapism. Andrew Craig provides the ideal backdrop, wrapping each track in hazy, lush textures that let the melodies shimmer. This is quality indie pop, through and through.

Imaginary Reflections is out now in the UK (LP/CD) on Duck Race Recording Co., and in the US on CD via Shelflife Records.
