New EP: The 5.6.7.8’s feat. Miss Ludella Black || Beat Girls

Four hip-shaking covers

Japanese garage rock legends The 5.6.7.8’s hardly need an introduction, since the trio have spent nearly four decades tearing through garage rock, surf, rockabilly, and punk with unstoppable energy, and if you don’t have their music in your collection, you at least know it from a movie—Woo Hoo. Now they’ve teamed up with Miss Ludella Black (The Delmonas, Thee Headcoatees) for a four-track EP aptly named Beat Girls, recorded at Medway’s Ranscombe Studios during their 2024 UK tour.

A must-have 7″ brims with exciting covers of The Pretty Things’ Come See Me, Ray Charles’ What’d I Say, John Barry’s Beat Girl, and The Pretenders’ Kid—a dancefloor-ready blend of vintage swagger and timeless bite.

The Beat Girls EP—recorded, engineered and mastered by Jim Riley—is out now digitally and on 7″ vinyl through Spinout Nuggets. Featuring Yoshiko (guitar, vocals), Omo (bass, vocals), Sachiko (drums, vocals), and Miss Ludella Black (vocals).
