As if we needed another reason to be infatuated with Parisian trio Prise Rapide, they kick off their second full-length with their own theme song: Prise Rapide 🙂. The smiley in the title * may be unnecessary—the track is F.U.N. enough on its own—but it perfectly captures the band’s playful nature.

Trop Plein packs 8 songs that build on the promise of last year’s excellent debut. Here’s a band that can slide effortlessly from infectious indie punk to edgy post-punk and new wave. Most of the record is accessible on the surface, but dig in and you’ll find the thorns and razors that reveal Prise Rapide’s true edge.

Highlights? The powerhouse La Rage—featuring a downright kickass vocal performance and Chacun de son côté, shrieking and piercing yet somehow impossibly catchy. Throughout Trop Plein, Prise Rapide load their songs with enough OOMPH to leave us grinning, nodding, and occasionally blurting out: WOW!
