New album: Yuasa-Exide || Go To Hell Encyclopaedia Britannica

Douglas Busson keeps the sparks flying

Douglas Busson’s creative spark is as sharp as ever on his latest outing as Yuasa-Exide. The title alone—Go To Hell Encyclopaedia Britannica—sets the tone: provocative, strange, and a little bit mischievous. Out now on cassette via Round Bale Recordings, the record is mostly Busson’s vision, though he enlisted a number of other talents (check the liner notes on Bandcamp for the full list).

Cranked up loud and blissfully unpolished, Go To Hell Encyclopaedia Britannica captures the basement magic of a musician let loose with a four-track and whatever instruments happen to be lying around. The result is noisy, outsider fare—too weird for the crowd, just right for the cult. And each Yuasa-Exide release converts a few more true believers. I know this one will.

For a taste, start with the opener and closer below. If those grab you, rest assured the weirdness in between is well worth the trip.
