New album: Moving Targets || Red Eyes

Moving Targets stay sharp

Moving Targets are Exhibit A for how to get the band back together the right way. After releasing four albums between 1986 and 1993, these Massachusetts veterans have now put out their fourth studio record since 2018. Not bad, right? Pretty damn good, actually—especially when you hear songs like Saw Too Much and On the Run.

Moving Targets land somewhere between alternative rock and punk, all about sturdy songwriting and sharp execution. Red Eyes offers ten accomplished tracks (a couple of them instrumentals) that sneak up on you rather than hit you over the head. Recorded with Jawbox’s J Robbins, it sounds like the band is on a roll and genuinely enjoying themselves.

Red Eyes is out now on Boss Tuneage, Dead Broke Rekerds, and Waterslide Records.
