Not sure this is the best way to start your week if you like to ease into things—Make Them Wonder Why is the musical equivalent of that Mike Tyson quote: “Everybody has a plan until they get punched in the face.” So buckle up for 30 minutes of unhinged punk chaos out of Cleveland.

In that time, these musicians (members of Knowso, Smooth Brain, and Perverts Again) blast through 21 tracks. That sounds like a lot, but there’s no monotony in Cruelster. They’re loud and aggressive, sure—but also funny, weird, and unexpectedly melodic. They sound like the kind of people who’d steal your car, then show up at your house two hours later with tacos and a great story. It’s unpredictable, but not without charm.

This is not your average punk band, and this is not a drill. Expect to be floored, then picked up by a dangerous-looking yet kind stranger. Your plan: long forgotten. Your reward: one chaotic, glorious experience richer. Enjoy digging through this record to find your favorite punk song of 2025.
