Cleveland trio Xanny Stars (Allie Mattis, Mickey Mocnik, Sam Gottsegen) make their debut today on the want-list with their new four-song Adaptor 7″—recorded and mixed by Jerome Westerkamp of Vacation, and out now on Just Because Records.

I have no idea what took us so long to pick up this band that made their entrance to the scene around 2019. Their sound is right up our corner of the musical landscape. That is, Xanny Stars play pop music for rock’n’roll lifers, or indie punk for pop fans if you will. It’s alt pop with brass, balls, and attitude but not without a little gloss, shine, and sparkle.
