British surf rock outfit Preston Pfanz & The Seaton Sands (aka ‘The Sands’) have been on the road for twenty years—the Knock Hill Chicane 7″ (2005) and the Big Beat Guitar Party EP (2006) to their name—but only now are they releasing their first full-length album. Return To Burnt Island consists of fifteen instrumental tunes—known from their live shows—including covers of Ginchy (Bert Weedon), Peak Hour (The Krew Kats), and (Joshua Fit) The Battle Of Jericho (traditional), which fit effortlessly between the originals. There is no shortage of fun ideas, from bouncing balls in Rock ‘n’ Roll Ping Pong to Tequila-vibes in Chihuahua, it all works out well. This is old school cool with a contemporary twist of reverb, happy melodies to dance to.
Return To Burnt Island is out now digitally and on vinyl LP through Spinout Nuggets. Featuring Preston Pfanz (lead guitar), Ivor Keathing (rhythm guitar), Col Dingham (bass), and Wes T. Calder (drums).
