New EP: Patient Zero || Souvenir Noir

Dark wave energy and gang-vocal glory from the shadows of France

There’s barely any intel on Patient Zero. We know they’re from Tours, France—which is great, because Tours is one of those French place names that sounds cool in English. Honestly, they could just as well be from Angers, La Force, or even Nice. But I digress. That tends to happen when there’s no band bio to go on—good thing the music speaks volumes.

Their (I assume based on their Bandcamp page) second EP Souvenir Noir is a fierce little gem. Patient Zero plays dark-tinged punk rock with bite, melody, and gang vocals that make you want to join the fray. It’s new wave-ish and high-energy. Opener Yeux Fermés is one of the more exciting punk rock tunes I’ve heard so far this year.

The liner notes mention French tape label Dirty Slap Records, so maybe more context is coming as well as a physical release. For now, stream the hell out of this thing.
