New album: Ma’aM || Out the Window

A palindrome band that will set your local dive on fire

I never say this, but Ma’aM—the finest palindrome sextet in Pennsylvania—is forcing my hand: are you ready for a jolly good time? After first catching our ears with their 2021 hit Cruisin All The Time, the band returns with Out the Window, and it’s an absolute blast.

Ma’aM sound both traditional and totally off-kilter, blending country, garage, and rock-’n’-soul in a way that feels natural even if you don’t usually like those genres. They’ve got twang and melancholia, wit and warmth, and enough wild energy to turn your local dive into a sweaty, slide-guitar-lit dance floor. It’s heartfelt, humorous, and just the right kind of strange.

RIYL: horses, spaghetti westerns, trumpet, banjo, tears, smiles, and surprisingly good bar bands.

Out The Window is out now on LP at Nudie Records.
